Rev 21:6-8 The Blessing and the Curse to the People of God.
Matt 7:13-14 Are you on the Narrow path in life to receive the Blessing or broad path to destruction the Curse? Give careful consideration to the blessing and the curse God speaks to his people about.
Rev 21:5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
6 Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
THE PROMISE
7 “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.
THE CURSE
8 “But" for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
THE PROMISE
Rev 21:7 Encourages us to Overcome the world of sin we live in, because the promise from our Lord is to all who will “OVERCOME SIN” will inherit the coming Kingdom of God as Priest of the Most High..
Rev 21:4 He will wipe away our tears and there will be “NO MORE DEATH, MOURNING, CRYING OR PAIN”.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the “FIRST RESURRECTION”. The 2nd death has no power over them, but they will be PRIESTS OF GOD AND OF CHRIST AND WILL REIGN WITH HIM FOR A 1000 YRS.
What wonderful comforting verses to read. in Rev 21:4 There will be no more pain or crying or mourning for the “OLD ORDER” of things will pass away. But for those who do not “OVERCOME” the verses below gives us a vivid description of what happens to them and who will come under the curse of the 2nd DEATH.
CURSE
Rev 21:8 “But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and the sexually immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
We are told those who are unbelieving, sexually immoral, abominable, murderers, those who practice magic arts, idolater and all liars will be placed into the Lake of Burning Brimstone, which is a description of the 2nd death.
On the Sexually immoral sin, it comes by fornications, adulterys and lusts of the flesh which destroys the temple of God which is our body.
Because we are God’s temple and the Lord says in I Cor 3:16-17 if we destroy this temple God dwells in , God will destroy the person who does this. This person will face the 2nd death at the Lord’s coming.
You may be wondering how does one die twice, what is the Lord saying? We are born flesh and we die in the flesh, at the resurrection we are brought back to life in the flesh.
The resurrection are spoken about in Ezk 37:13-15 which is the resurrection to Eternal life and Jerm 8:1-20 the resurrection to "condemnation" to those who will face the 2nd death. It gives very vivid detail of what these who are condemned will say when they are raised to drink the cup of gall.
The Lord told Israel in Deuteronomy 30 they will make a choice in their life in the covenant with Him to choose life by living correctly before the Lord in repentance or they will face the 2nd Death.
Deut 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you (eternal ) life and death, (death refers to the 2nd death, eternal extinction) the blessing and the curse. So choose (eternal) life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, (our offspring will come into the kingdom of God as a blessing to us who are given eternal life)
The Blessing is eternal life if you obey all the Lord commands and live your life for the Lord. Do not let anyone deceive you in the Lord's direct words. Rev 21 is speaking to Christians the same as Deut 30:19 as a warning to the Jews and we have been grafted into their Promises and Curses.
The Curse is to be raised up in the resurrection and given over to the be destroyed by the 2nd death when the Lord comes. We have all chosen the Path we are on by the way we are living our Life.
The sexually immoral and those into magic arts, the liars, all those sins which are described in Rev 21:8 must be overcome to be given eternal life and with the Lord Jesus this is possible, through prayer, and repentance. We alone are responsible for the choice we make, for the Lord has told us to “work out our own salvation with trembling and fear” are you?
John 5:28-29 Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear the Lord's voice and "COME OUT" those who have done "GOOD" will rise to "LIVE", and those who have done "EVIL" will rise to be "CONDEMNED".
