I relate to my sons, the confusion of secular thought on this subject is not anything that they need exposure to, and it is my right and my wife's alone to choose that exposure. But let's also face facts, christendom has also done some to make them suspicious or hostile to us.

I'm not sure I am understanding what you were conveying above?  Could you clarify a little bit more?
I'd like to discuss this further...if you could.  (as, make "who" hostile...your sons or the gay community, and I'm not getting the connection with regard to your sons?)
