Cherubims on the east of the garden

Genesis 3:24 So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

• Previously I saw the Cherubims as keeping people away but now see it as is written....keeping "the way of the tree of life."  They guard against those that come from the east....evil.  (please see the post on the topic of the east written by me2lord.)
  
  
  Concerning the Cherubim...our Father tells us....

Exodus 25:22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

• The "two cherubims" on the ark of the testimony represent the "two witnesses" for they have the testimony of Jesus. They are the cherubims with the flaming sword.....the flaming sword being His testimony, His S-Word that is as fire....

Jeremiah 23:29  Is not My word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

• The two Cherubim, representing the two witnesses, are two groups of witnesses....there are many of us!  Consider the symbology.....

Exodus 26:1 Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them.


Exodus 26:31 And thou shalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made: (shalt thou make it)

• What is the tabernacle?  What is fine linen?  (the blue, purple and scarlet is another study on it's own but the colors also are highly symbolic)

1 Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?


Revelation 19:8  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

• The tabernacle (God's people) is made with ten curtains of fine linen which are symbolic of the ten tribes...today's Christians. The blue color represents the elect and they cover the ark which contains the testimony/spirit of prophecy.....

Revelation 19:10  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

That was very interesting Whirlwind.  We have so much to consume in the bible.  I have been in the bible 27 yrs pretty much daily and I still feel like I have only found a pinhead of the many wonderful things the Lord speaks in every verse of the bible...consuming daily the words of God and feasting on them is a pure delight for me...and others like yourself who love the Lord's words.  They do bring us life in every way...lol

I found this interesting on the cherubims.   The evil most certainly will come from the East and flood the earth's governments and then they will be destroyed by the Lord, so do not fear them, fear the Lord more so and follow the Lord always.   lol

    2 And he said to me, "This gate shall remain shut; it shall not be opened, and no one shall enter by it; for the LORD, the God of Israel, has entered by it; therefore it shall remain shut.
    3 Only the prince may sit in it to eat bread before the LORD; he shall enter by way of the vestibule of the gate, and shall go out by the same way."
  
  
  The "Golden Gate" was located in the East wall of Jerusalem; it was one of eleven entrance gates into the city. Notice in the above picture that this gate is sealed shut. It was sealed up in the 16th century A.D.
  
  A little background on the East gate of Jerusalem: The East gate was walled up by it's Muslim conquerors (the Ottoman Turks) in 1530 A.D. Notice also the cemetery that has been planted in front of it. Many believe this was done to prevent the entrance of the Jewish Messiah through that gate as was foretold by known Old Testament prophecies. However, Ezekiel prophesied the shutting of this gate itself around 600 B.C. -- that it would be shut "because the LORD (Jehovah or Yahweh), the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut."
  
  Jesus entered Jerusalem through the East gate around 30 A.D. (long before it was blocked by the Ottomans) as he came down from the Mount of Olives and entered the temple according to our understanding of Luke 19:28-48. He would have entered through the original gate in the wall which was destroyed with the city by the Romans in 70 A.D. Ezekiel says concerning this closed gate that the "Prince" (which the Messiah is often called throughout the Old Testament and Jesus is called in the New Testament) shall enter it again. Jesus, having entered the city, said that he would not be seen again until Jerusalem acknowledges him (Matthew 23:37-39).
  
  The Eastern gate is presently considered by the Arabs to be their exclusive property. It is sealed up and blocked off. However one day, the Messiah will land on the Mount of Olives, with all His saints, and walk down to and right through the Eastern Gate and into the Temple area.

      Ironically the gates of Heaven are never shut. Therefore they knew not the Messiah upon the occasion of his visitation unto them 2000 years ago. Thus their rejection of the Messiah stands as a historic monument symbolized in concrete by the shut gate to Old Jerusalem. Jesus prophesied to Israel about the desolation of their Temple, and that desolation continues to this very day. The shut gate also symbolizes the reality of the supernatural battle that is even now waging over the Temple Mount. But the Lord shall return and open the gate, and rebuild the Temple, and Israel shall know the Lord.

      Revelation 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.

      The Gates shall be open and the glory and honor of the nations shall pass through to give praise unto the King of Kings!
