Peacemakers or peacekeepers?
« on: July 14, 2010, 04:50:27 pm »
Matt. 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Peacemaking is not the same as peacekeeping!

Peacekeeping: smoothing things over, keeping the status quo, maintaining the illusion of peace, ignoring or coddling the flesh.

Peacemaking: Working issues through with love, fasting and prayer, pushing for change towards conformity with God, dealing with the flesh.

Big difference in the meanings!  cz064  That is the only verse I could find with the word 'peacemakers'

Matt. 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

It takes real courage to be a peacemaker...not to mention faith. How many churches are afraid to open "the can of worms" and seek to not disturb the flesh? So often we just don't want to go there. Where there are pews or seats facing the saqme way (as in a lecture hall) the only view is the back of someone elses head. Getting face to face is much harder.

How many churches allow prophets into their midst? A difficult word?

How many preach peace, peace when there is no peace?

Peacemaking involves the dealing with the flesh. Here are a few obstacles to true peace:

Cultural pride, personal pride, unbelief, fear, selfishness, egocentricity, offenses/hurts/inner scars, impatience...

Jam 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;

I so very much needed this reminder today,   :inlove:

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;

All very good points that I had never truly contemplated before, this great difference that is so subtle, yet so significantly distinct from one another.  Amazing how this is so easily overlooked.  Definitely, peacemaking appears to be more of a "process" whereas peacekeeping infers maintaining a status quo that may go awry... there was "peacekeeping" in the nation of Nazi Germany, or today in North Korea, a "peacekeeping by force".  Also, True Peace is rooted in the reciprocation to enmity (opposition to God) as Cizz so well pointed out, for True Peace is "cessations to all againstness to God".  True Peace is our selfless "surrender" to Him, the Most High.  Amen.

Blessings...
