Exd 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth [is] mine:

Jer 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

Jer 11:4 Which I commanded your fathers in the day [that] I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:

Jer 11:7 For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day [that] I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, [even] unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

You know, meditators don't like that.  They sit for hours and clear their head.  No thoughts are good for you, they say.   cz054

I don't try do that meditating stuff anymore!  Sometimes it's a nice thing to allow some of those inner voices to make noise, I do remember a day of clearing a little to much, no voices no noise...I thought I was dead!  No joke! Now my goal is to try and not observe every little noise in there, just hear it...big difference between observing and hearing..As much as my looking and staring at someone else in the eyes when they talk can bring them to silence, it is more so true when I do it to myself!  grin

Wow!  Good points, but how did you do that??  I can remember so many times when all I wished was to quit thinking!!

LOL! I wouldn't be able to explain how sis! Try to observe every thought that is in your mind not listen to them ..look at them..  To become one that observes...pick up ink pen, observe yourself doing that, then observe the one looking at yourself picking up the ink pen...follow that as far as you can...for everytime I can ask and ponder who is this that is watching me from within me, I have stepped farther back into being an observer, anything being observed goes into silence..When I use to meditate instead of going to pieces over not being able to quit my mind I would look for the one within me talking rather than add another voice of noise with OH CRAP I can't quiet my mind! what the HEY is wrong with me that I can't quiet my mind! I'm such a dumby that I can't quiet my mind!  After a while of practing that it becomes automatic to look at every thought, in which will cause the thought to stop...empty head  Balanced noise is much better, which requires me to not be observing all the time now just listening..

That should have been to observe the thoughts not react to them! Sorry! I use to have a constant storm of thoughts whirling in my head and I was always reacting to all that mess! So to quiet the storm in meditation I would observe the thought and consider each one rather than react to it with adding more noise...I could never figure out how other people and books where saying clear your mind, have no thoughts, blah blah blah! They made me feel like an alien for not being able to do what they were saying! So I decided to stop trying to get rid of all the thoughts and instead I would focus on each thing that came to mind and consider each one..

Is it, 'you are not your thoughts?'  It becomes a conundrum.

Oh that's a good one! What are the thoughts that we are trying to put into words! Who am I? Am I the one receiving the thought or the one putting words to the thoughts? Am I the one that can sit back and observe the self doing that...deep abyss!

Brings to mind that verse we discussed a lil while back.

If I am beside my self it is for the Lord, if I am in my right mind it is for you....or something like that.  Remember?

When we question who we are, we question God, 'Who are you?'
