What a growth experience!! I knew the other morning that however things go he is fine now. God gave me that, and what a gift!!! However, it is interesting to watch others...the people at the hospital. They have looked at me a little crazy here and there! They deal with cases so much harder, longer, and more devestating then little Traecyn's all the time. So they are very cautious in how they speak...hopefull always but never unrealistic. We met a very old lady while we were waiting in the hallway at the hospital here in Pueblo waiting for him to be sent to Denver. Pretty cool lady. She really reassured us what a wonderful hospital it is that they were sending him to in Denver. She had spent a year there as child. And that had affected her. Being so long ago things were pretty different...she was there by herself a great deal of time so her family could continue working.
Then another case is the little girl down the hall. This baby is on methadone. Which for anyone who doesn't know what that is...it is a drug that was developed to try and help people addicted to Methamphedimenes (sp?). This baby was born several months ago addicted and much sicker than our little guy. She has been at this place her whole life. She cries a lot... And mostly she is there by herself, except for the wonderful nurses who hold her as much as they can... I heard the staff discussing her mom the other day. She hasn't kicked this habit she has. They get frustrated because she comes up there, goes to the counseling office to get her "gas vouchers", visits, and goes back to what she does. Does this mom love her baby? My opinion...probably so, as much as she is able...because some just abandon...clearly she is not able to very well. Jesus says not to judge, yet the Bible says to sometimes. What I can safely judge is that she needs the Lord Jesus. Both her and her baby.
Sorry, kinda rambling thoughts...
Again Vickie thank you for asking and for caring. His replacement IV failed again this morning. I knew when it happened. The Lord woke me up and I knew. But I knew it was ok so I went back to sleep. Kaitlin called a couple of hours later and told me they had a pretty hard time getting a new one in (side of his head this time...there ain't much room left that ain't been stuck already) This isn't vital anymore...they just keep one in in case of a crash. They are used to babies going from fine to BAD really fast.
He will probably be released tomorrow. He started eating yesterday and needs to "prove himself" eating and gaining weight. He went down to 7.3 and was up to 8 lbs. yesterday. Today he woke up demanding to be fed (!!!) and ate 50 ml. He was only required to eat 25!! Aunty Shelby said "isn't he just the little overachiever...Grandma says "he's my little rockstar!!"
